The Library was founded in 1935 by an order of the “Glavzoloto” Division of the People's Commissariat of Heavy Industry of the former USSR.
The Library fund comprises 67 460 items.

- geochemistry;
- geochronology;
- tectonics;
- startigraphy;
- petrology;
- ore deposits.
The maintained catalogues are: alphabetical, subject, geographical, systematic, and inventory of articles published by employees of TsNIGRI.
Library services: subscription, reading room, and through interlibrary loan service.
The library organizes thematic exhibitions and exhibitions of new acquisitions.
The electronic catalogue of the library is currently being created.
The library area is 400 sq. m., the number of seats in the reading room is 10.
