"MINEX Russia 2019" mining and geological forum was held in Moscow on October 8-10. The forum’s key issue, the Russian mining and geological industry development foresight, was consistent with the expert participants gathered to discuss new opportunities in subsurface study, and ore mining and processing. This year, MINEX Russia celebrated its fifteenth anniversary, and the program was interesting and rich.

The round table, "Mining plant of the future – strategies of industry leaders" (moderated by E.A. Kiselev, head of Rosnedra), discussed the experience of top companies in sustainable development modeling, and mining and metallurgical plant upgrade. Participants of "Digitalization of subsurface use in Russia" round table (moderated by A.V. Rudnev, head of Rosnedra Department) shared their views on the use of digital technologies, they also addressed the impact of state regulation (including licensing) and the activity of foreign investors on subsurface user operations.

As part of "Geological prospects and trends in the Russian mineral base development" industry session (moderated by G.A. Mashkovtsev, General Director of FSBI VIMS), A.I. Chernykh, General Director of FSBI TsNIGRI, made a presentation "New data on the forecasting, prospecting and evaluation technology for large-tonnage gold deposits hosted by carbonaceous-terrigenous complexes" (co–authored with A.I. Ivanov, Scientific Director of FSBITsNIGRI).

"Battery metals potential and production prospects in the context of global trends" industry session (moderated by A.I. Chernykh, General Director of FSBI TsNIGRI) was devoted to global trends and assessment of nickel, cobalt and lithium production development as well as prospects of battery metals production and sales in Russia. I.G. Tretyakova, Deputy Head of FSBI TsNIGRI department of international relations, made a presentation "Nickel and cobalt: status, global trends and prospects".

For the first time, "MINEX Russia 2019" traditional exhibition included consultations "Assisting subsurface users" involving experts of the Federal Agency for subsurface use, FSI Rosgeolexpertise, FBI GKZ, FSBI TsNIGRI, FSBI Rosgeolfond, FSBI VIMS and FSBI IMGRE.
