TsNIGRI participates in the Federation Council bill discussion

The Committee of the Federation Council on Economic Policy submitted the draft Federal law No. 664487-7 "Amendments to the Russian Federation "Mineral law" and certain legislative acts of the Russian Federation intended to stimulate mining waste use" for discussion.

A roundtable discussion was held on December 10, 2019 with a focus on "Legislative support for rock dumps and waste management: problems and prospects" issue.

A.N. Shchendrigin, Scientific Secretary of TsNIGRI, represented the institute.

The roundtable was attended by the Federation Council members, representatives of the Russian federal and regional executive and legislative bodies, representatives of RAS, industry research institutes, public organizations, and exploration and mining companies.

The ways to solve problems of accumulated mining wastes aimed at improving the environment, releasing large areas occupied by waste lands, obtaining more mineral materials, employment of local population and increasing revenues to local budgets were discussed. In particular, the use of gold mining waste was considered.

The roundtable provided recommendations on the issues discussed.
