METHODICAL EXPLORATION SUPPORT

As part of federal and regional geological subsurface study and mineral base reproduction programs, TsNIGRI is involved in federally funded exploration scientific and methodical support, from drafting deposit-specific Rosnedra exploration plans to obtaining the final result (approval of DPBM undiscovered, potential and inferred resources, and reserves).

• Validation of mineral and territorial exploration priorities based on forecasting-metallogenic study analysis results as well as long-term and medium-term mineral base use and reproduction forecasts.

  Long-term exploration planning with account of prioritized strategic Russian regions development and potential for new (unconventional) deposit types discovery.

• Implementation of advanced exploration techniques (geological, geophysical, geochemical, mineralogical, metallogenic, technological, analytical, and geological and economic) since their design.

  Institute expert involvement in exploration planning and imlementation at specific deposits (determination of geological and economic mineralization type and mineralogical-geochemical ore characterization, forecasting-prospecting model design, forecast maps and sections compilation, etc.), recommendations for highly informative and efficient exploration methods use.

• Preparation of documents ensuring efficient exploration planning and implementation.

  Prioritized exploration targeting and drafting annual lists of Rosnedra federal program sites, medium-term exploration program correction; development and approval of draft technical (geological) programs for new (tender) and current deposits; approval of project document methodical sections for exploration sites.

• Expert assessment of federal program site exploration quality and performance.

  Evaluation of intermediate and final exploration results; control/revision and control/analytical studies involving expert visits to exploration sites; recommendations to update and optimize the methods and techniques used at deposits as well as rapidly correct exploration destinations; material approval involving DPBM inferred resource estimation.

Expert and methodical exploration support undertaken in close cooperation with industry enterprise staff is ongoing throughout the Russian Federation and covers 60-80 federal program sites annually.

This activity facilitates obtaining the planned results on most federal program sites and revealing highly prospective sites subject to more detailed prospecting study or licensing.
