The rules of review

Scientific articles submitted to the editorial board of the journal "Domestic Geology" and corresponding to its subject matter are subject to mandatory review for the purpose of their expert evaluation. The review is blind, one-sided. All reviewers are recognized experts on the subject of peer-reviewed materials and have published on the subject of the reviewed article within the last 3 years. The reviews are kept in the publishing house and in the editorial office of the publication for 5 years. The editorial board of the journal asks the reviewer to include in the text of the review an assessment of the following points: a) the conformity of the content of the work with modern achievements in the field of science under consideration; b) the novelty and scientific significance of the results obtained; c) the advantages and disadvantages of the work; d) the quality of illustrative materials; e) the form of presentation of the material, including the quality of bibliograp.

  1. Reviews are sent to the authors of the articles to get acquainted with the examination result.
  2. If reviews contain recommendations for paper correction and revision, the executive secretary sends the reviews to the author, offering to consider these recommendations when preparing a new paper version or refute them convincingly. Correction period is limited to two months. The revised paper is resubmitted for review.
  3. In case authors refuse to make corrections as required by reviewers, the Editorial Board asks them to report their decision to refuse paper publication, in writing or orally.
  4. In case one of the reviewers did not recommend the paper for publication, the Editorial Board can send it to another reviewer for additional peer review.
  5. Positive reviews do not always guarantee the paper publication, because the Editor-in-Chief finally approves publication.
  6. In case the decision to publish the manuscript is taken with comments, the manuscript is sent back to the corresponding author for correction; the corrected version is repeatedly reviewed. In case the decision to publish the manuscript is negative, the editor-in-chief sends to the corresponding author a review or a motivated decision signed by the Editor-in-Chief; no subsequent discussions are practiced; no manuscripts once rejected are considered repeatedly.
  7. After the Editorial Board allowed the paper for publication, the executive secretary informs the author about this decision and announces the publication period.
  8. Any conflicts arising in the review process are settled by the Editor-in-Chief.
  9. Original reviews are stored in the Editorial Board for five years. When the editors of the journal “Otechestvennaya Geologiya” receive a corresponding request, the editors send copies of reviews to the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.
