TECHNOLOGY OF LOCALIZING AREAS PROSPECTIVE FOR PRIMARY DIAMOND SOURCE IDENTIFICATION
TsNIGRI developed a technology of localizing different-scale areas (potentially diamondiferous subprovinces, fields, body groups) prospective for primary diamond sources. There are three stages of area localization.
- Diamond prospective areas are localized on the basis of geological and geophysical preconditions (indirect factors, criteria). Position and boundaries of these areas are predefined.
- Prospective areas revealed by indirect factors are sorted based on the available direct diamond potential evidence such as kimberlite indicator mineral haloes, diamond placers or their separate occurrences; features of dispersion halo and placer formation are studied to establish their consanguinity with the identified area.
- Recommendations are developed for appropriate prospecting activities within a prospective area (site) considering area study level features.
